The Adverse Side Effects of Using Aluminum Foil:

Specifically, aluminum can negatively affect your brain function since it is a neurotoxic heavy metal. Furthermore, this heavy metal has also been associated with an increased risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. That’s not all, medical professionals say that regular exposure to this metal could contribute to mental decline. They also claim that it can lead to loss of memory, coordination, balance, and bodily control. Unfortunately, the negative effects of regular aluminum exposure can be long-lasting.

The results of the same study also showed that cooking with aluminum foil could result in bone issues. To be more specific, aluminum can accumulate in the bones drawing the calcium out and causing calcium deficiency. In this way, there is not enough of this mineral in the bones, which can trigger many bone disorders.

What’s more, cooking and grilling with aluminum foil have also been found to increase the possibility of pulmonary fibrosis and many other respiratory disorders. Namely, the inhalation of aluminum particles has been linked to various respiratory conditions.

Researchers explain that aluminum foil can leave pieces of the metal into the food if exposed to high temperatures. Also, if you add lemon or some spices to the food, chemical leaching of the metal could occur.

The chemical engineering researcher at the American University of Sharjah, Dr. Essam Zubaidy, has tested the effects of this metal on cooking. Shockingly, what he found was that a meal cooked with aluminum foil could possess even 400mg of the metal. He also noted that aluminum foil should not be used for cooking. Plus, it should be never used with certain vegetables, such as tomatoes; spices; or citrus juices.

Eventually, the World Health Organization warns that the recommended daily amount of this metal is 60mg a day.
