Tasty and Crispy Sabudana Thalipeeth

Sabudana Thalipeeth is a recipe made using sabudana, potato, and peanut powder. It is a Maharashtrian recipe made often during Navratri. Sabudana Thalipeeth has a crispy exterior and a soft interior. Ecobake cooking paper helps in flattening the Sabudana Thalipeeth without getting stuck to the kitchen surface.

Ingredients

 

  • Sabudana- 1 cup & Green chilly-2-3 medium
  • Green coriander a handful & Ginger-1 inch
  • Cumin-1 tsp, Fennel seeds-1 tsp & Lemon -1/2 tsp
  • Sugar-1/2 tsp, Potato-4 medium & Roasted peanut-1/2 tsp
  • Oil for shallow fry & Curry patta-15-20

Directions

 

  • Wash the sabudana twice and soak it in water for 2 hours in a plate.After 2 hours, remove the excess water using  strainer. Let the soaked sabudana dry in the strainer for 1 hour by keeping a bowl under the strainer.
  • Meanwhile, grind curry leaves, ginger and green chillies coarsely in a mixer jar. Add coriander leaves to the mixture and grind again to make a flavourful paste. Grate boiled potatoes and coarsely ground peanut powder in the same bowl as sabudana and mix them along with cumin seeds, fennel seeds and salt.
  • Add the green paste to the sabudana mixture and mix well. Add sugar and squeeze lemon into the sabudana potato dough to balance the taste. Take a small portion of the dough and spread it on a piece of Ecobake cooking paper as shown.
  • Transfer the flattened sabudana dough to a tawa using Ecobake cooking paper. Cook the thalipeeth for 3 to 4 minutes and flip the other side of the thalipeeth. Cook the other side for 3 to 4 minutes, till the thalipeeth is completely cooked.
