Chicken Shawarma For Iftar Meals

Chicken shawarma is a famous recipe hailing from the Middle East. But now it has become one of the most popular fast foods on the street. With a handful of ingredients and spices available at home, we can make chicken shawarma in a healthy way. Oddy Uniwraps paper foil helps in wrapping the shawarma roll, keeping the filling intact.

Ingredients

 

  • Maida – 2 ½ cups & Butter – 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Baking soda – ½ tsp & Salt – ½ tsp
  • Sugar – 1 ½ tsp & Yeast – ½ tsp (optional)
  • Hot water to knead the dough
  • Chicken – ½ Kg & Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Chilli powder – 1½ tbsp & Coriander powder – ½ tsp
  • Garam masala – ½ tsp & Curd – 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Ginger Garlic paste – 1 ½ tsp & Salt – 1 tsp
  • Grated carrot, cabbage & Sliced onions
  • 2 Eggs, 3 to 4 Garlic cloves, oil, salt, and vinegar – 1 ½ tsp

Directions

 

  • For 3 hours, marinate the chicken in curd, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, ginger-garlic paste, and salt. Roast the chicken in a grill pan by applying 2 tbsp of ghee. Switch off the stove when the chicken is completely cooked through.
  • Add maida, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a bowl with hot water to make the dough. Add oil to the dough, knead well, and rest the dough for 30 minutes. Take a small portion of dough, roll it out, flatten it, and cook it on the tawa to make pita bread.
  • To prepare mayonnaise, beat 2 eggs, 4 garlic cloves and vinegar in a mixer jar. Add 2 tbsp of oil gradually and grind three to four times until a thick paste is formed. Marinate thinly sliced onions, grated cabbage, grated carrot, red chilli flakes, salt, and chat masala for half an hour.
  • Take marinated veggies, add minced chicken pieces and mayonnaise to them and mix well. Make a shwarma roll by wrapping chicken pieces in pita bread and wrapping it with uniwraps paper foil. Your chicken shawarma is ready.
