Soft and Fluffy Fried Buns Without Oven or Pressure Cooker

About the Recipe

Whether fried buns or bakery-style buns, they are very easy to make at home without an oven. Here we fry these buns in hot oil without baking them in a Kadai or pressure cooker. Brown Ecobake cooking paper helps to proof the dough without sticking to the plate or tray. You can also use Ecobake to fry the buns without the flour getting into the oil.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp sugar & 1 tbsp yeast
  • ½ cup luke warm water
  • 2 cups maida & salt as needed
  • 1 tbsp oil/butter
  • Luke warm water as required
  • Oil for frying

Directions

  • Activate the yeast by dissolving sugar and yeast in lukewarm water for 10 to 15 minutes. Once the yeast is activated, add the maida, oil, and salt to the yeast and mix well.
  • Add lukewarm water to the mixture and knead well to prepare a soft dough. Let the dough rest and double in size. Punch down the proofed dough and knead it again.
  • Flatten the dough like a thick roti and cut out square buns. Allow the buns to double in size by placing them on Brown Ecobake cooking paper.
  • Once the dough is proofed, cut the Ecobake cooking paper and fry the buns in hot oil along with the brown Ecobake cooking paper to avoid flour getting into the oil.
  • Once the buns turn golden brown in colour, take them out. Place the buns on a piece of paper to drain out excess oil. Enjoy the buns as they are or along with bhaji.
