Savory sesame tea-time puris

About the Recipe

This delectable puri contains sesame seeds that give the perfect crunchiness and taste that makes for a light tea-time snack This puri is made with jowar and wheat flour which constitutes a healthy option as a snack. Rolling the puri dough becomes an easy task with Oddy Ecobake baking and cooking paper due to its non-sticky grease proof nature.

Ingredients

 

  • 2 cup jowar flour
  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • ½ cup gram flour
  • 1 tsp carom seeds
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • Salt as required
  • Sesame seeds 2 tbsp
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • 1 cup coriander leaves
  • Oil for frying
  • 8-10 chillies
  • 8-10 garlic pods
  • Few coriander stems
  • 1 tsp jeera

Directions

 

  • In a jar, add garlic, chillies, coriander stems, jeera and make spicy coriander paste. In a bowl add, jowar flour, wheat flour. Gram flour, carom seeds, coriander powder, salt, sesame seeds, turmeric and coriander leaves and finally add the coriander paste.
  • Make it into a dough adding a little water. Make small circular balls and roll it in the size of small puris.
  • Use Oddy Ecobake baking and cooking paper for making the shape of puris. Oddy Ecobake can be reused and it is grease proof. Hence Oddy Ecobake is the perfect choice for making puris.
  • Keep one puri dough in Oddy Ecobake and flatten the dough in the shape of puri. Add another Oddy Ecobake on top of the dough and press it to form a perfect puri shape. Add sesame seeds on top of the puri and press again. The thickness of the puris should be of the size of chapatis.
  • Roll it out and make perfect round shapes with a bowl or a lid. Deep fry the puris in hot oil on both sides to get crispy puris.
