Ingredients
- Rice flour 150 gms
- Salt as per taste
- Ghee 1 tbsp
- Sugar 1 tbsp
- Water 1 cup
- Dry coconut grated 150 gms
- ½ cup jaggery
- Poppy seeds 1 tsp
- ½ cup milk
- Cardamom powder ½ tbsp
- Nutmeg 1 pinch
- 3-4 tbsp milk powder
Directions
- In a bowl add 1 cup water and add 1 pinch of salt, little sugar, and 1 tbsp ghee. Let the water boil nicely and remove it from the flame. Sieve the rice flour and add while the water is still hot, cover with a lid, and keep aside.
- In a pan add 1 tbsp ghee, and poppy seeds, and roast it. Add grated coconut, jaggery, milk, and cardamom powder. Add a pinch of nutmeg powder, and milk powder and mix well. Our modak mixture is ready.
- Take the rice flour mixture and make it into a dough, add water or milk to bind the dough. Take the dough and make a small ball. Now flatten it as shown in video and use the rice flour or ghee to make the shape of modak.
- Fill it with the modak mixture and fold it to cover the edges. It should form the shape of modak. Repeat the same process with the rest of the dough.
- Now take an idli streamer or a big kadai. Add some water and keep a stand and then keep a steamer pan. Oddy Ecobak non-stick liners can be used to coat our Steamer vessel. This will help the steam to seep into our modaks and also Oddy Ecobake is non-sticky and hence steaming the modaks becomes a hassle-free process.
- Let it cook for 10-12 mins and check whether it is cooked. Remove the modak and now our Steamed modak is ready to serve.
