Tutti frutti slice cake

Tutti frutti cake is a popular variety of cake made with maida, tutti frutti (candied papaya), sugar and flavorings. This cake can be made both with eggs and without eggs. For all your baking needs, use Oddy Ecobake. It eliminates the need to grease/oil the pans before baking and cuts down cleaning time as well.

Ingredients

 

  • Maida - 1.5 cup
  • Curd - 250 gm or 1 cup
  • Oil -125 ml or 1/2 cup
  • Sugar -100 gm or 3/4 cup
  • Baking powder -1 tsp + 1/4 tsp
  • Baking soda -1/2 tsp
  • Pineapple essence-1/4 tsp
  • Orange essence -1/4 tsp
  • Vanilla essence-1/4 tsp
  • Tutti frutti -1/2 cup

Directions

 

  • In a mixing bowl, take 1 cup curd, 3/4 cup fine sugar and mix it well with the help of a whisker.
  • Now add baking powder and baking soda. Mix it well. You will see bubbles forming in the batter, giving it a frothy look.
  • Add 1/2 cup oil and edible food colour to the mixture. Food colour is optional.
  • Using a sieve, add dry ingredients like maida. Mix it well using a spatula. Don't forget the cut and fold method here.
  • Coat tutti frutti with maida and then add it to the batter. This way, tutti frutti won't stay at the bottom.
  • Now add 1/4 tsp each of Pineapple essence, Orange essence and Vanilla essence to the batter.
  • For making slice cake, use an appropriate mold. Line it with Oddy Brown Ecobake cooking and baking paper so that the cake doesn't stick to the mold and comes out easily. No need to grease as well.
  • Set the batter in the mould and add some more tutti frutti to garnish.
  • Now bake the cake in a preheated oven at 160 degrees Celsius for about 35-40 minutes.
  • Insert a toothpick in the centre and if it comes out clean, the cake is done.
  • Let the cake cool down for a bit and demould it. The delicious tutti frutti cake is ready to serve!
