About the Recipe
Ukadiche Modak is made in many Hindu homes during the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi Festival. Ukadiche Modak is basically steamed modak. Ecobake Non-Stick liners helps in getting perfect modaks without any greasing and no need of cleaning afterwards.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Gram Flour (Besan/Chickpea Flour)
- 1 tablespoon Semolina (rava/sooji), optional
- 1½ teaspoons Lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon crushed Green Chilli-Ginger (or paste)
- 1/4 cup Curd (plain yogurt)
Directions
- Put 1 teaspoon of oil and 1 teaspoon of poppy seeds in a pan and roast it. Put 2 cups of grated coconut in a pan and roast it.
- Put 2 spoons of dry fruit powder in the coconut, turn off the heat, add ¼ spoon of grated nutmeg and stir. Allo saran to cool.
- Add 2 cup water, salt, 1 tsp of ghee in a pan and bring the water to a boil. When the water boils, put 2 cups of rice flour in the water and turn off the heat and stir it together.
- Cover the dough for 7/8 minutes, pour this dough into the platter and knead for 2 minutes. Apply ghee to the modak mould and place the dough on the sides of the mould as shown in the video.
- Now fill in the saran and cover it with dough. Prepare all modaks in this manner.
- Place all modaks in a steamer plate lined with Oddy Ecobake Non-Stick liners. Boil water in a pan and place a plate of modak in the pan.
- Keep the gas on medium and cook modaks by covering it for 7-8 minutes. Ganapati Bappa's favorite Ukadiche modaks are ready to serve.
