Ingredients

  • 1 cup sattu powder (powdered pulses and cereals)
  • Sesame Oil 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • 2 tbsp moong dal
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 green chilly chopped
  • Curry leaves
  • Grated coconut
  • 3/4th cup Water
  • Salt as required

Directions

  • Roast sattu powder for 5 mins. Remove in a pan. In the same kadai, add oil, mustard seeds, moong dal, roast for 2 mins. Add onion and fry till translucent.
  • Add chopped chillies, curry leaves, grated coconut, water and salt. Let the water boil and add roasted sattu powder and mix well. While the kadai is still hot mix well with the spoon and let it rest for some time.
  • When the mixture turns warm enough for you to hold, add some oil in your palms and make shapes as shown in video. Use Oddy ecobake cooking paper for lining the steamer. This will prevent our Kollukatai from sticking the base and also is reusable.
  • Let it cook on high flame for 10 mins. Remove it in a dish and serve hot. Our tasty and healthy Kollukatai is ready.
