Masala Wadi

Masala wadi is a popular Maharashtrian snack. Made with nutritious flours like wheat, gram flour and rice flour this is wadi is truly gonna keep you full for longer. Ingredients

 

  • White sesame seeds 1 cup
  • Grated coconut 1 cup
  • Carrom seeds ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tsp
  • Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • 7-8 green chillies
  • Ginger garlic paste ½ tsp
  • Oil 3 tbsp
  • Wheat flour 1 cup
  • Gram flour ½ cup
  • Rice flour 2 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves chopped
  • Salt as required
  • Water as required

Directions

 

  • In a kadai add oil and once slightly hot remove from heat. In a dish add wheat flour, gram flour and rice flour, mix well. Combine carrom seeds, cumin powder, turmeric powder, Kashmir red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt and combine well.
  • Grind the green chilies and add with ginger garlic paste, chopped coriander leaves and warm oil. Make a smooth dough by adding water little by little.
  • In a kadai roast sesame seeds for a few minutes and add grated coconut and roast well together. And grind it little to form a coarse paste. Mix this coarse paster with carrom seeds, cumin powder, turmeric powder, Kashmir red chilli powder, asafoetida, salt, green chilli paste and ginger garlic paste and mix well to form a masala.
  • Make small balls as we do for chapati and roll it with a rolling pan and pin. Apply the masala all over our chapati and roll it firmly and nicely. Cut it diagonally into pieces.
  • Take Oddy Ecobake cooking paper circles and line it in our steamer plate. Oddy Ecobake cooking paper circle is non-sticky and helps in easy demolding. Add our wadis in the steamer and steam for 15-20 mins. In a kadai add little oil and shallow fry the wadis. Our Masala wadi is ready.
