Ariselu with Sugar

About the Recipe

Ariselu is a well-known south Indian dish created especially for celebrations like Diwali. It is deep-fried in oil and made with sugar and rice flour. It can also be made with jaggery.  Oddy Ecobake assists in flattening the dough made of rice flour without getting it to stick to the kitchen surface.

Ingredients

 

  • Rice - 500 gms
  • Water as needed
  • Sugar - 300 gms
  • Oil - for frying
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Oddy Ecobake

Directions

 

  • Soak the rice in water for 15 hours and remove the excess water. Leave it for 15 minutes and grind it to a fine powder in a mixer jar.
  • Prepare sugar syrup by boiling sugar and water. Boil the sugar water once it reaches a stage where you will be able to make a round ball with it.
  • Now mix the rice flour with the sugar syrup and mix well. Add cardamom powder and ghee to the dough and give it a good mix.
  • Take a small portion of the dough and flatten it on the Oddy Ecobake as shown. Fry this flattened dough in hot oil to make aroselu.
