Stuffed Mackerel

About the Recipe

Fried mackerel goes well as a main dish with rice and curry. A special stuffing is made with coconut and some spices which goes very well with Mackerel fish. It is then stuffed and coated with rice flour and semolina to get a crunchy texture when fried to perfection. Use Oddy Ecobake to keep the fish and clean, Oddy Ecobake will absorb the water and keeps your kitchen counter clean. You can also keep the fried fish on Oddy Ecobake to absorb excess oil.

Ingredients

  • 3 Mackerel fish
  • Oddy Ecobake
  • For marination: 1/2 tsp turmeric, 1 -2 tbsp agri masala, 1/4 tsp garam masala, 1 tbsp garlic paste, salt, Juice of ½ lemon
  • For filling: 1 small cup of freshly grated coconut,
  • 3 green chillies
  • Garlic ginger
  • 1/8 tsp turmeric,
  • 1/2 tsp agri masala
  • 1/8 tsp garam masala
  • Kokum Agar- 2 tsp
  • 1 small cup chopped onion
  • For coating- Rice flour, semolina, salt, oil for frying

Directions

  • Clean the mackerel as shown in the video. You can keep the fishes in the Oddy Ecobake. This will help to absorb the water from fish and makes the cleaning process easier.
  • Slit the fish on the sides and over it as shown in video. Now add lemon juice, turmeric powder, agri masala, garam masala, salt, ginger paste and marinate the fish nicely over it.
  • In a mixer and grated coconut, chillies, ginger, garlic, coriander leaves and grind it into a fine paste. In a kadai add oil, chopped onions, ground masala, turmeric, agri masala, garam masala, salt, 2 tsp kokam water, saute for 5-7 mins and remove from heat.
  • Let the mixture cool down. And stuff the mixture inside fish nicely with the help of spoon. In a plate take rice flour on one side and fine semolina on other side. Add salt and agri masala on rice flour and mix well. Coat the fish in rice flour mixture first and then in semolina.
  • Fry on medium flame for 3-4 mins on each side for juicy and crispy stuffed mackerel. Serve hot.
