About the Recipe

Dabeli is a gujarati snacks recipe which was invented in the Kutch region of Gujarat. It is basically a sweet and spicy Indian version of burger where bun or pav is filled with delicious potato filling. Ingredients

 

  • 1.5 tbsp instant dry yeast & 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt & 2 tsp oil
  • 2 cups maida & water as required
  • 1/2 cup dabeli masala & 1/3 cup khajur imli chutney
  • 3 boiled & mashed potato
  • Oddy Ecobake & Masala peanuts
  • Dried coconut & melted butter

Directions

 

  • In a mixing bowl, take yeast and then add sugar, salt and some lukewarm water. Now add oil. Keep mixing this until sugar melts. Then add maida.
  • Knead dough which is not too hard and not too soft either. Keep adding lukewarm water to knead dough. Apply some water once the dough is ready and cover the lid. Keep this aside for 1-2 hours.
  • To prepare stuffing. take a kadhai and add some oil. Once oil is hot add the dabeli masala followed by khajur imli chutney. Mix it well. Now add the potatoes.
  • Mix everything well and keep it aside.For baking the dabelis, line the baking tray with Oddy Ecobake. The dough has poofed up well now.
  • Sprinkle some maida on the dough and punch in to remove excess air. Pinch out small balls of dough. Roll it out and then using a utensil make it round in shape and remove the excess dough.
  • Make 4 cuts as shown  in the video then keep masala along with pomegranate and masala peanuts. Sprinkle some dried coconut as well.
  • On 2 sides, make 5 cuts now. Apply water around the part where masala is kept. Fold the opposite side of the masala as shown. Make net design like shown.
  • Cover the dabelis for about half an hour so that they poof up well. Apply some milk on top of it. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for about 10 minutes.
  • Then bake the dabelis for further 20 minutes (10 minutes- baking, 10 minutes- grilling. Apply melted butter on baked dabelis and serve them hot.
