Ingredients
- Maida or refined flour- 1 cup Or 150g approx
- Sugar- 1/2 cup or 80g
- Refined oil- 1/4 cup or 50ml
- Milk- 1/2cup + 2 tbsp
- Cocoa powder- 2 tbsp
- Vanilla essence- 1/2 tsp
- Baking powder- 1 tsp
- Baking Soda- 1/4 tsp
- Salt- 1/4 tsp
- Lemon juice- 1 tsp
Directions
- Take a rectangular/circular cake tin and line it with Brown Ecobake so that the cake doesn’t stick to the surface.
- For the batter, take ½ cup of milk which is at room temperature. Add 1 tsp lemon juice/vinegar to it and keep it aside for 5-10 minutes.
- After 10 minutes, beat the mixture well and add ¼ cup refined oil.
- Now add ½ cup ground sugar, ½ tsp vanilla essence and ¼ tsp salt to the mixture.
- For dry ingredients, add 1 cup maida, ¼ cup milk powder, 1 tsp baking powder and ¼ tsp baking soda. Sift them well.
- Mix all the ingredients to form a smooth batter. If the batter is too thick, then add 2 tbsp milk.
- Divide the batter into 2 equal parts. In one part, add 2 tbsp cocoa powder, 1 tbsp milk and mix it well.
- Two batters are ready now- one is chocolate and the other is white.
- Preheat kadhai for 5-10 minutes on medium flame.
- Set the batter in the cake tin by pouring one spoon of batter at a time. Pour both batters alternatively.
- Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes on low to medium flame in a preheated kadhai or 40 minutes in the oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
- Insert a toothpick in the centre and if it comes out clean, the cake is done.
