Perfect Ashtami Thali for Navratri

Ingredients

 

  • Black Chickpeas
  • Ghee
  • Red Chili Powder
  • Black Pepper
  • Coriander Powder
  • Turmeric
  • 2 Cup wheat flour
  • Cumin Powder
  • Amchoor Powder
  • Salt
  • 1 Bowl Semolina
  • 5-6 Green Cardamom
  • Dry Fruits
  • 1 Bowl Sugar

Directions

 

  • Starting with the first item, soak approx 500 gm of black chickpeas overnight and next morning boil them in a pressure cooker and add some ghee while boiling.
  • To prepare gravy, take 1 tbsp black pepper, coriander powder, ¼ tbsp turmeric powder, roasted cumin powder, red chilli powder. Mix these spices and add some water while mixing.
  • Take a pan, add 1 tbsp of ghee or cooking oil, add 1 tbsp of cumin seeds to the pan and add the mixture of spices that we made earlier. Roast it and keep stirring. After some time add the boiled chickpeas to the pan and add 1 tbsp of salt.
  • Cook them covered, for a few minutes and after 5 mins turn off the gas flames and set them aside for sometime.Your black chickpea recipe is ready.
  • Moving to the Suji Halwa, take 1 bowl of ghee to the pan, add 1 bowl of strained semolina to the pan. Roast it and keep stirring constantly till it turns brownish, as shown in the video.
  • Add about 3.5 bowls of water to the pan, along with 5-6 green cardamom and some chopped dry fruits. Keep stirring while roasting the mixture.
  • Add 1 cup of sugar and mix the halwa constantly, to maintain the consistency add 1 tbsp of ghee.
  • Moving on to Poori preparation, take 2 cups of wheat flour, add some salt and make dough while adding water.Later, make small balls of dough as shown in the video.
  • Roll them using a rolling pin and deep fry them.
  • You can use Oddy Uniwraps food wrapping paper to wrap these pooris for lunch. Your special Thali is ready.
