Tres Leches Milk Cake Recipe

About the Recipe

Tres Leches cake is a well-known dessert cake recipe from Mexico created with sponge cake that has been soaked in a mixture of three kinds of milk. If no butter is used, the cake is very light and has lots of air bubbles. With Ecobake, you can quickly demould your cake and achieve the ideal shape without using any oil.

  • 3 eggs (separate egg whites & egg yolks)
  • ½ cup sugar + less than ¼ cup milk + Vanilla Essence - 1 tsp
  • ¾ cup maida + ½ tsp baking powder
  • Milk powder – ½ cup + Sugar – ½ cup + Milk – 1.5 cups
  • Cream – ½ cup + Vanilla essence – 1 tsp



  • Take 3 eggs and separate the yolks and whites into two bowls. Take an egg yolk, add sugar and mix well until it turns pale white in colour. Take an egg white, add vanilla essence and beat it until it turns frothy.
  • Take the egg yolk mixture, add half of 1/4 cup of milk, maida, baking powder and mix well. Add 1 to 2 tbsp of milk if you feel the batter is thick. After adjusting the consistency of the batter, add 1/3 cup of the egg white mixture and mix well. Again, add the remaining egg white mixture and mix well.
  • Transfer the batter to a cake mould lined with Ecobake parchment paper. Bake the cake for 15 to 20 minutes in a preheated oven at 200 °C. Once the cake is baked, poke holes in the warm cake using a toothpick. Prepare the milk concoction with milkpowder, milk, sugar, and cream as shown.
  • Add vanilla essence to the concoction and pour this milk over the cake. Freeze the milk and cake for 1 hour in the refrigerator. Then take the milk-soaked cake outside and cut into pieces. Pour the remaining milk over the cake and serve.
