Creative Coffee Cake Decoration Technique 

About the Recipe

Make this unique coffee cake using your coffee concoction. Here we are going to decorate the cake with purple cream to bring out a new cake design. Oddy Ecobake helps in getting the perfect shape for your cake without greasing, and there is no need for additional clean-up.

Ingredients

 

  • 1.5 tsp coffee powder & 2 tbsp hot water
  • ½ cup + 2 tbsp milk & 1 tsp vinegar
  • ¼ cup oil, Maida – 1 cup & Milk powder – 3 tbsp
  • Baking powder – 1 tsp & baking soda – ½ tsp
  • Chilled whipping cream – 1 + ¾ cup
  • Chopped chocolate – 70 to 80 gm & Fresh cream – 50 gm
  • 2 to 3 drops purple food gel colour
  • 1 drop black food gel colour
  • White sugar pearls and silver sprinkles
  • Oddy Ecobake

Directions

 

  • Prepare a coffee concoction by mixing coffee powder with hot water and letting it cool down. Prepare buttermilk by mixing milk and vinegar. Add the oil and vanilla essence to the buttermilk and mix well. Once the coffee concoction has cooled down, add it to the buttermilk mixture.
  • Sieve the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients to prepare the cake batter. Transfer the cake batter to a mould lined with Oddy Ecobake and bake the cake for 45 minutes in a preheated kadai. Prepare chocolate ganache by melting dark chocolate and fresh cream.
  • Once the cake is baked and cooled, cut it into 3 equal parts. Place the first layer on the cake board, soak it with coffee sugar syrup, and apply whipped cream on it. Apply the chocolate ganache and spread it uniformly. Frost the second and third layers of the cake in the same manner.
  • Frost the cake completely with a spatula and level it. Apply whipped cream, starting from the bottom of the cake, until 1/3rd of the cake is covered with white cream. Apply dark purple cream (purple cream + black food gel) to the remaining part of the cake and level everything using a spatula.
  • Make a swirl pattern starting from the centre of the cake till the bottom of the cake using a spatula as shown. Make flowers on the flower nail using a rose petal nozzle filled with purple cream and 125 nozzles with white cream as shown.
  • Place the white and purple flowers on the top corner of the cake. Decorate the bottom of the cake with purple flowers. Make leaf designs besides the flowers using white cream in a piping bag with a V-cut. Garnish the cake with white sugar pearls and silver sprinkles as shown.
