Kadhi Pakoda

About the Recipe

Kadhi padoka is the ultimate comfort food. Subtle in taste yet you can fell the slightest taste of spices. Major component of this dish is curd or buttermilk which is great for health. Pakodas are deep fried and added it in the kadhi. Served usually with plain white rice. Use Oddy Uniwraps brown to keep the fried pakodas. Ingredients

 

  • Oddy Uniwraps brown
  • Gram flour 4 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • chili powder ½ tsp
  • salt ½ tsp
  • Curd 1 bowl
  • Buttermilk 1 bowl
  • Spices: oats 1 tbsp, fennel 1 tsp, coriander leaves and fenugreek seeds 1 tsp, Peppers 5-6 nos.,cinnamon 1 small stick, cloves 4-5,bay leaf 1,Grated ginger 1 tsp, Green chilies 4-5, Oil 2 tbsp, mustard seeds 1 tsp, cumin seeds 1 tsp, asafoetida 1 tsp, curry leaves 7-8
  • Ingredients for Making Pakodas – gram flour 1 bowl,turmeric 1 tsp,chili powder ½ tsp, asafoetida, powder 1 pinch, oats ½ tsp, salt 1 tsp, pure ghee 1 tbsp, grated ginger ½ tsp, garlic chopped 7-8, green chillies chopped 5-6, kasuri methi 1 tbsp, coriander leaves chopped 1 tbsp, Oil for frying
  • For Kadhi tempering: Oil 2 tbsp, curry leaves 4-5, asafoetida 1 pinch, kashmiri chili 1, red chili powder 1 tsp

Directions

 

  • In a bowl add gram flour, turmeric, coriander powder, chilli powder, salt and mix well. Add curd and mix well. Grind cinnamon, cloves, methi seeds to form a coarse powder. In a kadai add oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, coriander seeds, carrom seeds, ginger, asafoetida, curry leaves, green chilies, bay leaf and ground powder and roast well.
  • Now add the gram flour batter. Add a little water and stir well. Adjust salt and cook while stirring continuously. In a bowl add gram flour, turmeric, chilli powder, asafoetida, carrom seeds, salt, ghee, add ginger and garlic crushed (optional), green chillies and mix well.
  • Add water little by little and make a nice thick batter. Add kasuri methi and give a final stir. Add a pinch of soda and stir well. Our pakoda batter is ready. Add chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  • In kadai heat oil. Once the oil is hot, fry our pakodas nicely, and remove from heat. Use Oddy Uniwraps brown to keep our fried pakodas. It helps in removing excess oil from the pakodas. Also, you can pack the padokas in Oddy Uniwraps brown for tiffin or for preserving the leftover pakodas.
  • For tempering, add oil in a small kadai. Add asafoetida, cury leaves, kasmiri chilli powder and mix well. Remove the tempering and add immediately in our Kadhi and mix well. Add the fried pakodas in Kadhi and serve it hot with hot plain white rice.
