Methi Kofta Gravy

About the Recipe

This recipe for “Methi Kofta Gravy” is made from fresh methi leaves. The koftas are made from fresh methi leaves mixed with besan flour and other spices, steamed, and then added to the tomato-onion gravy. If you do not wish to grease your steamer plate, then use Oddy Ecobake Cooking paper circles, which are very convenient to use and can be reusable.

Ingredients

 

  • Fresh fenugreek/methi leaves- 50 g & Grated potato-1
  • Besan flour- ½ cup & Turmeric powder-1/4 tsp + ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder- ¼ tsp +1/4 tsp & Garam masala-1/4 tsp
  • Cumin-1/4 tsp + ½ tsp & Asafoetida-1 pinch
  • Salt-As per taste & Water
  • Oil- 1 tbsp & Ginger chopped
  • Chopped Garlic- 5 to 6 cloves & Chopped Onion-1
  • Coriander powder-1/2 tsp & Sabji masala-1/2 tsp
  • Curd-1/4 cup & Chopped tomato-2(medium)
  • Oddy Ecobake cooking paper circles

Directions

 

  • Clean and wash fenugreek or methi leaves, and chop them. Take it into a bowl and keep a portion of it aside. Add potato, besan flour, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, cumin, asafoetida, and salt to it and mix well with water gradually, forming a tight dough from it.
  • Take care not to add much water, since the methi leaves may shed some water later. Grease your palms, pinch the dough, and make it into a square shape as shown or any other required shape.
  • Arrange them on a plate. Transfer them to a steamer plate lined with Oddy Ecobake cooking paper circles. steam for 7–8 minutes on a medium flame. Take out from the steamer after the methi kofta are completely steamed.
  • Heat oil in a pan; add cumin, garlic, ginger, and onions; and fry. Then add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, and Sabji masala, and add curd to it and stir fry.
  • Now add the tomatoes and stir-fry, adding salt and the fresh methi leaves that we kept aside. Add water to it and let it cook along with the steamed methi kofta. Serve hot with chapati.
