Moong wadi

About the Recipe

A classic recipe with freshly add coriander leaves. Sprouted moong as a base, and steaming the wadi makes the wadi nutritious. Have it as a snack or for breakfast to make a healthier choice. Health-conscious people can skip the tempering. Oddy Ecobake helps in easy demolding of the Moong wadi.

Ingredients

 

  • 1 big bowl sprouts
  • 1 bunch coriander
  • 2 small pieces of ginger
  • 3 green chillies
  • 1 tsp jaggery
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Water
  • ½ turmeric
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp carrom seeds
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • Salt
  • Asafoetida
  • 1 tsp crushed fennel seeds
  • 1 tbsp tamarind pulp
  • 2.5 tsp rice flour
  • 4-5 tsp gram flour
  • Sesame seeds
  • For tempering: Oil, ¼ tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp mustard seeds. few curry leaves

Directions

 

  • In a mixer add moong, ginger, chillies, jaggery, cumin, water and grind it into a coarse paste. In a bowl add coriander and ground paste. Add carrom seeds, sesame seeds, salt, asafoetida, fennel seeds, tamarind pulp, oil and mix well.
  • Add rice flour, gram flour and bind the mixture well. Take a plate and put Oddy Ecobake to cover the entire plate. Oddy Ecobake is non-greasy and makes our cooking process easy. Put the Moong wadi mixture and tap it.
  • Add sesame seeds on top if it and steam the moong wadi in a steamer for 10-15 mins. Let it cool down and then flip the plate to demold the moong wadi. You can see that demolding is very easy with Oddy Ecobake and it did not require oiling as it is non-greasy.
  • Cut the moong wadi into equal pieces. Now for the tempering, in a kadai add oil, jeera, mustard and curry leaves, then add the wadi and mix well. Our Moong wadi is ready to relish.
