Besan Ke Gatte

Ingredients

 

  • 1 cup gram flour
  • ½ Tsp of carom, cumin, mustard and fennel seed
  • Baking soda
  • Asafetida, salt, red chili powder, turmeric powder
  • Oil
  • 1 cup curd
  • 2 Onion
  • Dry Masalas
  • Coriander leaves

Directions

 

  • Take ½ cup of gram flour, ¼ Tsp asafetida, ½ Tsp carom seeds, ½ Tsp cumin seeds, 1 pinch of baking soda, 1 Tsp salt, ¼ Tsp red chili powder, ½ Tsp turmeric powder and 2 Tsp oil together and mix them well.
  • Now add 2 Tsp curd to make the dough. You can add little water if required or you can use more gram flour and oil to make the dough perfect.
  • Let the dough rest for 10-15 min.
  • Now grease your hands before making the balls form the dough and make the balls as shown in the video.
  • Now boil some water in a steel pot to steam the balls.
  • After that take a big strainer and put Oddy Ecobake non sticky liners in it and put the strainer on a steel pot and drop the balls one by one in the strainer and steam them for 10 min as shown in the video.
  • Now Put a cauldron(Kadhai) on the stove and pour 2 tsp oil, add some mustard, cumin and Fennel seeds and after this add onion paste made of two medium onions in the cauldron.
  • Add 1 Tsp of ginger-garlic paste and Fry it until the onions get brown.
  • Now add dry masalas in it and mix them, after that add 3 Tsp smooth curd and mix it on low flames as shown in the video and cover it from a plate and leave it for 3-4 min on low flames.
  • Now add besan ke gatte(balls) in it and mix them well and pour one cup hot water and mix it again add some fenugreek leaves and mix it well.

Ingredients

 

  • 1 cup Gram Flour (Besan/Chickpea Flour)
  • 1 tablespoon Semolina (rava/sooji), optional
  • 1½ teaspoons Lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon crushed Green Chilli-Ginger (or paste)
  • 1/4 cup Curd (plain yogurt)

Directions

 

  • Take all ingredients to prepare batter.
  • Pour approx. 2-3 cups water in steamer at bottom and heat it over medium flame.
  • Make sure that steamer is at least 4-5 minutes heated before placing the plates (filled with batter) in it.
  • Grease 2 small plates or thalis (4-5 inch diameter) using 1-teaspoon oil.
