Eggless Hot Cross Bun Recipe

About the Recipe

Hot Cross Buns recipe is eggless, soft and fluffy. Kids love to eat buns, try this recipe at home. While baking the buns, place Oddy Ecobake on the baking tray. It is nonsticky, grease-free and convenient, and reusable for baking and cooking.

Ingredients

 

  • 2 tbsp black raisins, 3 tbsp chopped dried apricots.
  • ½ cup lukewarm milk, 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1.5 tbsp active dry yeast
  • 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour (maida), ½ tsp salt,
  • ¼ cup sugar powder, 2 tbsp milk powder,
  • ½ tsp special garam masala powder (cinnamon sticks, clove, cardamom, and dry ginger)
  • 1 tbsp butter, Oddy Ecobake, 2 tbsp melted butter

Directions

 

  • Take 2 tbsp black raisins, 3 tbsp chopped dried apricots. Soak it in half a cup of hot water. Let it soak in hot water for 10-15 mins.
  • In another vessel, take ½ cup lukewarm milk, and 2 tbsp sugar. Mix well till sugar dissolves. Then add 1.5 tbsp active dry yeast. Mix it with the milk and allow it to rise. Cover and rest for 10 mins.
  • In another bowl, take 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour (maida), add ½ tsp salt, ¼ cup sugar powder, 2 tbsp milk powder, ½ tsp special garam masala powder (cinnamon sticks, clove, cardamom, and dry ginger).
  • Mix all the dry ingredients together. To this add activated yeast and mix. Then add milk and knead a soft dough. After the dough is done add 1 tbsp butter and knead again.
  • Squeeze the water and add the soaked raisins and apricots. Knead again mixing the dry fruits. Cover the dough in cling wrap and let it rest for 2 hours.
  • After 2 hours, remove the cover and dust dry flour, and knead again. Then roll the dough into a circle and cut out 10-12 equal parts.
  • Take a part and tuck the edges beneath the dough and form a round ball shape from above. Make all the buns. Take a baking tray, and place Oddy Ecobake on it.
  • Arrange the buns with a distance between two buns. Cover it with a cloth and let it rest for 20 mins. In another bowl, take 2 tbsp all-purpose flour and mix it well for a thick paste.
  • Pour in a piping bag and make a cross design on the buns. Now, bake it at 180 degree celsius for 15 mins. Once done apply melted butter. It is now ready to be served.
