Shankarpali

About the Recipe

Shankarpali are delicious flaky, melt-in-the-mouth flour fried cookies made for festivals like Diwali. You can make them sweet or salted depending on your preference. Shankarpalis can be a good addition for your teatime snack. Pack them in Oddy Uniwraps and store for longer durations.

Ingredients

 

  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Ghee -1 cup
  • Flour - 5 cups
  • Oil

Directions

 

  • In a pan add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup water, 1 cup ghee and melt sugar on medium heat. When the sugar melts, turn off the gas and cool the prepared water. Pour cooled water into the pan.
  • Add 5 cups of flour to the water little by little and knead it gently. Take a large ball of prepared dough and roll out the chapatis as shown in the video. Use Oddy Unwraps foil to keep your rolled chapatis.
  • Cut the shankarpali of the rolled chapati. Drop the chopped shankarpali in the hot oil. Fry Shankarpali till it becomes crispy on medium heat.
  • Our shankarpali is ready to eat.
