Simple And Tasty Dhokla Recipe

About the Recipe

The Dhokla recipe is simple and tasty to eat. It tastes exactly like market-style Dhokla. Often Dhokla sticks to the vessel. To solve this problem, line the vessel with Oddy Ecobake. Ecobake helps get the perfect dhokla shape without any greasing and no need for cleaning afterward.

  • ½ cup curd, ½ cup water, ½ tsp haldi powder,
  • 1 tsp red chili powder, salt as required,
  • ½ inch grated ginger,1 cup besan, 2 tsp lime juice,
  • 2 tsp sugar, Oddy Ecobake, ¼ tsp baking soda,
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds, 1-2 chopped green chilies,
  • few chopped curry leaves, 2-3 tbsp oil, water as required

Directions

  • In a bowl take ½ cup curd, and whisk the curd to remove any lumps. Now add ½ cup water to the curd and mix.
  • Add ½ tsp haldi powder, 1 tsp red chili powder, and salt as required. Mix well. Add a half inch of grated ginger.
  • Add 1 cup besan. Mix everything well for 3-4 mins till a smooth lump free batter is formed. Now add 2 tsp lime juice. Mix well. Add 2 tsp sugar and mix again.
  • After mixing keep it aside for 10-15 mins to rest. Take a cake-baking tin, and line it with Oddy Ecobake. Whisk the batter once again for 1-2 mins. Add ¼ tsp baking soda and little oil. Mix again.
  • Now pour this batter into the tin and place it in a kadhai on a stand. Preheat the kadhai with water. Steam the batter for 10-15 mins on medium flame.
  • Check after 15 mins, with a toothpick or knife. If done, switch off the flame, and let it rest in the same kadhai for another 15 mins with the lid on. After it is done, remove it from the kadhai, demould it from the vessel. Flip it on a flat plate and remove it. Cut into required size squares.
  • For tadka, pour 2-3 tbsp oil, splutter mustard seeds, chopped green chilies, and curry leaves. Add little water and mix. Pour this on the Dhokla and serve.
