Bread Halwa

About the Recipe

Bread Halwa is a tasty Indian sweet or dessert where rusk powder is deep-fried in ghee and then cooked in sugar syrup until the consistency of halwa is reached.

Ingredients

  • Rusk Powder ( 4 – 5 rusks) - 1 cup
  • Hot Milk- 2 cups
  • Sugar - 1 ½ cup
  • Ghee - ¼ cup
  • Oil - ¼ cup
  • Cashew Nuts -10
  • Cardamom - 2

Directions

  • Heat the ghee in a heavy bottom pan; fry the cashew nuts till they become golden color. Remove the nuts from the ghee and keep it aside.
  • Fry the powdered Rusk in the same ghee till it becomes golden color. Keep the flame simmer.
  • Now add the hot milk slowly and stir continuously without lumps. Now keep the flame at medium.
  • Add the sugar when the mixture starts thickening.
  • Stir occasionally till the mixture becomes thick; then add the oil and the fried cashew nuts. Mix them well.
  • Cook till the mixture does not stick on the walls of the pan. Then remove the pan from the flame.
  • Line the serving bowl with ecobakes parchment paper as it reserves the presence of the ghee and its taste. Allow it to cool down and serve 🙂
