Cholafali

About the Recipe

Cholafali is a popular Guajarati snack made in most households during Diwali. After kneading the dough, you have to beat the dough very well using a mortar – pestle so that the dough smoothens. Use Oddy Uniwraps to keep the rolled cholafali , prevent it from sticking with one another.

Ingredients

 

  • 1 cup split urad dal flour
  • 4 cup gram flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4th tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp asefodita
  • 1 pinch baking soda
  • Water as required
  • Oil for frying
  • Dry masala: 1 tsp Chaat masala, ½ tsp salt, 1 tbsp kashmiri laal mirch powder, Jaljira powder 1 packet
  • For chutney: 1/4th cup gram flour, Chillies 4-5, Ginger 1 inch, ½ cup mint, ½ cup Coriander, 1/4th cup gram flour, 1/4th tsp turmeric powder, Salt to taste, 2-4 drops of lime juice, Jaljira powder

Directions

 

  • Take all ingredients to prepare batter.
  • Pour approx. 2-3 cups water in steamer at bottom and heat it over medium flame.
  • Make sure that steamer is at least 4-5 minutes heated before placing the plates (filled with batter) in it.
  • Grease 2 small plates or thalis (4-5 inch diameter) using 1-teaspoon oil.
