Special Sitafal Barfi

About the Recipe

The custard apple is called “sitaphal” in Hindi. This fruit is available during the monsoon and pre-winter seasons. This recipe shows how to make Sitaphal barfi. This is a delicious recipe that can be made for special occasions. This fruit has many health benefits. The Oddy Uniwraps are used in the recipe to make perfect burfi, which will not stick to the tray.

Ingredients

 

  • Ripe Custard Apple/Sitaphal Fruit-500 g or 4 no.
  • Fresh Paneer/Cottage Cheese-200 g
  • Fresh Crumbled Khoya/Milk powder-150 g
  • Almonds-50 g, Cashew Nuts-50 g & Ghee-1 tsp
  • Sugar-150 g, Cardamom Powder-1/4 tsp & Pistachio silvers

Directions

 

  • Put sitaphal pulp in a strainer. Remove the seeds. Coarsely grind almonds and cashews. Grate paneer. Heat ghee in a pan, add grated paneer, stir on a low flame for 3–4 minutes, and then add sitaphal pulp, cook for 5-7 minutes.
  • Then add crumbled khoya to it and stir for 5 minutes. Cook until the mixture leaves the pan, and then add sugar until it melts completely. Add ground cashew and almond powder. Cook for a few minutes and switch off the flame. Let it cool.
  • Line a tray with oddy Uniwraps paper and brush ghee on to it. Spread the warm burfi mixture on it using a ladle. Garnish with pistachios and slightly press them. Refrigerate it for 3–4 hours and cut it into rectangles. The sitaphal barfi is ready. You can relish it for 5–7 days when refrigerated.
