Coconut Holige/Coconut Obbattu

Ingredients

 

  • For Stuffing- Mature Coconut - 1 medium size or coconut gratings - 2 cups, Jaggery Powder(fine powder) - 1 cup, Sonamasuri Rice (soak it for 1-2 hours) - 1 tbsp, Elaichi - 1/4 tsp, Dry Ginger Powder - 1/4 tsp and Ghee - 1 tbsp
  • For Dough: Fine Rava/Chiroti Rava/Fine Semolina - 1/4 Cup, Maida/All Purpose Flour - 1 Cup, Pinch of Salt, Oil - 1/4 Cup
  • Oddy Ecobake to flatten the holige

Directions

 

  • Dough/Kanaka Preparation: Take 1/4 cup of fine rava and add 1/4 cup of water and soak it for 10 min. After 10 min, add 1 cup of maida, pinch of salt and mix it well. Add water as required to make soft dough. Now take 1 tbsp of oil and knead dough and let it soak in oil for 60-90 min.
  • Kanaka/Stuffing Preparation: Take 1 medium size of matured coconut and grate it to get 2 cups of coconut gratings. Now in the grinder, grind the coconut grating without adding water.
  • While grinding add 1 tbsp of soaked rice to get fine coconut paste and this soaked rice gives good binding for stuffing.
  • Add 1/2 tsp of elaichi powder and 1/2 tsp of dry ginger powder. When it is half done, add 1 cup of jaggery powder and grind it to fine paste and transfer it to a bowl.
  • In a pan, add 1 tbsp of ghee, add grinder coconut paste and keep stringing till it get little stiff. Keep the flame low.
  • Now add roasted 1 tbsp of poppy seeds and mix it. When you are able to form a sticky ball, turn off the flame and stuffing is ready.
  • Now take equal size of dough and stuffing. Flatten the dough a little bit on Oddy Ecobake Cooking and baking paper and add stuffing in between.
  • Cook both sides in low flame and your Tasty kaayi holige is ready.
