Dahi Wada

About the Recipe

Dahi Vada is a popular Indian street food dish that is great as a starter or as a cold appetizer. In general, dahi vada is a savory lentil dish smothered with fresh curd, sprinkled with spices like chilli powder, cumin powder, chaat masala or black salt, and drenched liberally in tangy-sweet tamarind sauce. Oddy Ecobake helps in easy cooking of the wadas in air fryer.

Ingredients

 

  • OddyEcobake
  • Urad dal 1 cup
  • Moong dal ½ cup
  • Water
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Turmeric ½ tsp
  • Cumin powder ½ tsp
  • Dahi wada masala ½ tsp
  • Ginger tamarind chutney 1 tbsp
  • Green chutney 1 tbsp
  • Chaat masala ½ tsp
  • Pomegranate 2 tbsp

Directions

 

  • Soak moon and urad dal overnight and grind it nicely. Add as little water as possible for grinding. Transfer it in a bowl and whisk nicely to form fluffy and light weight.
  • Fry the wada in hot oil. Flip on both sides and cook well. Remove it in a plate. If you want to fry in an air fryer, use Oddy Ecobake to line the basket. Oddy Ecobake is non-sticky and grease-proof, perfect for frying in an air fryer.
  • Wet your hands and take wada mixture and place in Oddy Ecobake. Fry for 190 degrees for 5 mins. In a bowl add water, asafoetida, turmeric powder and mix well. Add wada in that water so, the wada will swell in size. Soak for 1 hour.
  • After 1-hour squeeze water from the wada. In a bowl, place wada add curd, cumin powder, dahi wada masala, green chutney and ginger tamarind chutney and serve the dahi wada. Sprinkle chaat masala and pomegranate and serve.
