Gujarati Special Goli Muthiya

About the Recipe

Goli muthiya is a traditional Gujarati recipe. It is a simple and healthy recipe made from flour and fenugreek leaves. This can be served as a snack on cold winter evenings. It is healthy since it is made out of very little oil. The Oddy Ecobake liners are used in the recipe to steam the muthiya without sticking to the steamer plate.

Ingredients

 

  • Wheat flour -1 cup, Besan-2 tbsp, Ginger chilli paste-1 tbsp & Salt- to taste
  • Chopped Fenugreek leaves- 2cup & Chopped coriander leaves-1/2 cup
  • Asafoetida-1/4 tsp, Garam masala -1 tsp, Powdered sugar -2 tbsp & Lemon juice-2 tbsp
  • Soda-2 pinch, Water, Oil-1.5 tsp, Mustard seeds-1 tsp & Sesame seeds-1.5 tsp
  • Curry leaves- 8 to 10, Green chilli-2, Hinge -1/2 tsp, coconut-2 tbsp, coriander leaves- 2 tbsp

Directions

 

  • In a bowl, mix wheat flour, besan, fenugreek leaves, chopped coriander leaves, ginger chilli paste, salt, asafoetida, garam masala, powdered sugar, lemon juice, and soda with water little by little.
  • Roll the dough into small balls. Line the steamer plate with oddy Ecobake liners to prevent the muthiya from sticking to the steamer plate. Steam for 10–15 minutes on medium heat.
  • For tempering, heat the oil and add mustard seeds, sesame seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, and asafoetida. Add the steamed muthiya to it and stir.
  • Sprinkle grated coconut and chopped coriander. The tasty and healthy goli muthiya is ready to be served hot with tomato sauce.
