Ingredients

  • Cake Base:
  • 1/2 tsp coffee powder & 2 tbsp hot water
  • 3 Tbsp Milk and 3 Tbsp Curd
  • 1 Tbsp (5 gm) Milk Powder
  • 1/3 cup +1 Tbsp (50 gm) Powdered Sugar
  • ¼ Tsp Vanilla Essence & 2 Tbsp (30 ml) Oil
  • ½ Cup (80 gm) All Purpose Flour/Maida
  • 2 Tbsp (15 gm) Cocoa Powder & ½ Tsp (2 gm) baking powder
  • 1/8 Tsp (1.5 gm) baking soda
  • Ganache & Truffles:
  • 250 gm Dark Chocolate
  • 4 Tbsp (45 ml) Milk & 1 tsp butter

Directions

  • Prepare the coffee concoction with 2 tbsp of hot water and 1/2 tsp of coffee powder. Take a 5 inch cake tin and line it with Ecobake cooking 'n' baking paper. Preheat the vessel for 7 to 10 minutes before placing the cake tin into it.
  • To make cake batter, mix 3 tbsp of curd, 3 tbsp of milk, and 1/3 cup sugar. Add 2 tbsp unflavoured oil, 1/4 tsp vanilla essence, and coffee concoction to this mixture. Add all the dry ingredients mentioned above and mix well without any lumps.
  • Transfer the cake batter to the cake tin. Bake the cake for 30 to 35 minutes. After 35 minutes, check if the cake is completely baked using a toothpick. Demould the cake and keep it ready for frosting. Cut the cake into three parts.
  • To prepare the frosting, take 250gm of dark chocolate compound. Place a nonstick pan on the stove and heat 2 tbsp of milk in it. Add the dark chocolate to the pan and wait till it completely melts. You can also add 1 tbsp of butter to make it even smoother.
  • Transfer the frosting to a piping board. Apply some frosting on the cake board, spread it and place one layer of cake on it. Apply frosting generously on the first layer of cake and place the second layer of cake on it.
  • You can also soak the cake with a spoon of water before applying the frosting. Apply the frosting to the second layer and place the third layer on top. Similarly, apply frosting on the final layer and to the sides of the cake as well. Smoothen the surface with the help of a spatula.
  • Take a cake comb and make the pattern as shown. With the same piping bag, apply the drop design to the cake base. Make a drip pattern on the sides of the cake from the top. Draw lines on the cake using the piping bag as shown in the video. Draw slanting lines to make a cross or diamond pattern.
  • Transfer the balance of truffle frosting to a bowl and add cake crumbles to it and mix well. Keep this mixture in the fridge for 10 to 15 minutes. Make chocolate balls from this mixture.
  • Take cocoa powder in a mug. Place the chocolate balls inside the mug and shake it so that the balls are well coated with cocoa powder. Arrange these cake balls on the cake and the cake is ready.
