Ingredients

 

  • Spinach chopped 1 cup
  • Gram flour 3-4 tbsp
  • Carrom seeds ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1/4th tsp
  • Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Chilli powder ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • For gravy : Oil 1 tbsp, mustard seeds ½ tsp, jeera ½ tsp, Onions chopped 2, oil 2 tbsp, curd ½ cup, kashmiri red chilli powder ½ tsp, chillies chopped 1, tomato puree ½ cup, coriander leaves chopped, garlic paste, kasuri methi ½ tsp

Directions

 

  • In a wide plate add spinach, gram flour, carrom seeds, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chilli powder, asafoetida, salt, oil and mix well. Add gram flour if needed and mix it nicely. The mixture should be stiff and not watery. Our Gatte ki mixture is ready.
  • Make it into long cylindrical shapes or whatever shape you need. Now for steaming the gatta, keep the steaming vessel on gas adding water in it. Take Oddy Ecobake cooking paper circles. Place it on the steaming plate. Oddy Ecobake cooking paper circles does not let the gatta stick on the vessel. Close it with a lid and let it cook for 5 mins on full flame and then for 10 mins for medium flame.
  • Remove from heat once done. Let it cool and cut it into small slices. In a kadai add oil, mustard seeds, jeera, and mix well. Add tomato puree and mix well. In a bowl add curd, turmeric, coriander powder, chilli powder, salt and mix well. Add this curd mixture in kadai. Add Kashmiri chilli powder and let it cook nicely.
  • Once the oil separates, add the cut pieces of gatta. Add water and salt check consistency. In a small kadai add oil, coriander leaves garlic paste and saute add this to our ghate ki gravy. For garnishing add coriander leaves and kasuri methi. Our Palak gatta ki gravy is ready to eat. Have it with steamed white rice.
