Soft and Shiny Ragi Halwa

Ragi halwa is a popular dessert recipe made in Karnataka. It is super healthy and rich in nutrients. Oddy Ecobake helps you spread and set the ragi halwa without greasing the plate with oil or butter. It also aids in the easy demolding of the sweet.

Ingredients

 

  • 1 cup ragi soaked for 7-8 hrs & 2 tbsp soaked rice
  • 1.5 cup jaggery & 3/4 cup freshly grated coconut
  • 2 elaichi/cardamom & 2 tsp ghee
  • A pinch of salt & Oddy Ecobake

Directions

 

  • Soak ragi for 7 to 8 hours in water. After 8 hours, remove the excess water and grind it with soaked rice, grated coconut, soaked cardamom, and a pinch of salt.
  • Meanwhile, prepare jaggery syrup by melting jaggery with water in a pan. Extract the milk from the ground mixture. Add some water to the mixer jar and grind the residue again to extract more milk.
  • Repeat this process to extract as much milk as possible. Add water to the extracted milk to adjust its consistency, and mix it with jaggery syrup. Heat this mixture in a kadai until the milk thickens into a paste.
  • Add ghee to the mixture and combine well. Transfer the ragi halwa to a plate lined with Oddy Ecobake. Let it rest for 1 to 2 hours or until the mixture solidifies, then cut it into small pieces and enjoy!
