Spinach Masala Vadi

A nutritious and tasty snack for filling your appetite. Spinach Masala Vadi is easy to make with simple ingredients but tastes absolutely delicious. Spinach vadi can be kept in Oddy Ecobake baking and cooking paper circles for steaming, which does not stain the dish. Ingredients

 

  • 1 cup Spinach chopped
  • 1 tomato sliced
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2-3 green chillies chopped
  • Coriander leaves chopped
  • 1 ginger slice
  • ½ tsp chaat masala
  • ¼ roasted jeera powder
  • Salt as per required
  • ½ tsp coriander seeds
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds
  • 1 cup wheat flour

Directions

 

  • In a mixer jar, add spinach, tomato, onion, chillies, coriander, ginger and make it into a paste. Transfer it in a bowl and add chaat masala, jeera powder, salt, coriander seeds, sesame seeds and wheat flour.
  • Make it into a smooth dough and keep it aside for 10 mins. Divide it into two equal parts. And roll one part into the shape of a thick chapati. Add little ghee and spread wheat flour.
  • Fold it vertically as shown in the image. Keep on adding the ghee and flour and keep folding it throughout. Once done fold it horizontally adding ghee and flour as shown in the image. Once finished just roll a little and make it into thick cylindrical shape. Do the same with the other part of the dough as well.
  • Take a sieve dish and place Oddy Ecobake baking and cooking paper circles. Oddy Ecobake easily fits in the dish as it is circular in shape and eliminates the need for greasing the dish.
  • In a saucepan, add 1 glass of water and place the dish on top of it. Keep vadi dough in it. and immediately close it with a lid. Cook on a medium flame for 15 mins.
  • Remove from heat and cut it into medium circular slices. In a pan add some oil and fry these vadi slices till golden brown on both the sides.
  • The vadis are already cooked so just shallow fry them. Vadi will be crunchier on the outside and soft on the inside. Once done remove from heat. And enjoy the crunchy and tasty Spinach masala vadi.
