Uniquely Decorated Birthday Cake

About the Recipe

Make this uniquely decorated soft and spongy cake for your kids’ next birthday. The cake is made from flour and sugar and decorated with melted dark chocolate and cherries. Oddy Ecobake, which is non-sticky and reusable, can be used to make chocolate shorts and can also be used to make a cake that slides off of the baking pan.

Ingredients

 

  • Warm milk-1/2 cup & Vinegar-1 tbsp & Choco chips-1 tbsp
  • Powdered sugar-1/2 cup + 1 tbsp & Oil-1/4 cup & Vanilla essence-1 tsp
  • All-purpose Flour-1 cup & Baking soda-1/4 tsp & Baking powder-1 tsp
  • Pinch of salt & Milk-2 tbsp & Chilled whipping cream-3/4 cup
  • Sugar syrup: sugar -2 tbsp + ¼ cup water & Dark chocolate compound-60 g
  • Oddy Ecobake

Directions

 

  • Take milk in a mixing bowl, mix it with vinegar, and let it rest for 10 minutes to make butter milk. Take chocolate chips in a bowl and mix them with flour; keep it aside.
  • Take all the wet ingredients in a bowl, mix well, and add the sifted dry ingredients to it. Whisk well to make a smooth batter. Add milk to it if the batter is thick. Add the chocolate chips to it, and the batter is ready.
  • Transfer the batter into a baking pan greased with oil and dusted with flour, spread, and tap well. You can instead use Oddy Ecobake to line the baking pan. Cover and preheat a deep-bottomed vessel with a wire stand in it for 10 minutes.
  • Place the baking pan in it, cover, and bake for 35 to 40 minutes on a low flame. Check with a toothpick—a clean toothpick means a perfectly baked cake. Remove it from the vessel, let it cool, and unmold. The cake sponge is ready.
  • Beat cold whipping cream in a bowl until fluffy. Divide the cake into three layers. Apply whipping cream to the cake board, place a layer of cake on it, soak with sugar syrup, and apply whipping cream on it. Repeat the process for other layers, placing the bottom layer on top.
  • Frost the cake with cream and cover it completely; smoothen the sides using a card. Refrigerate it for 20 minutes. Melt dark chocolate in a bowl using the double boiler method.
  • Line a plate with Oddy Ecobake and pour melted chocolate on it; spread and semi-set it to make chocolate shorts; and refrigerate for 10 minutes. Divide and decorate one-third of the cake with cherries.
  • Decorate with melted chocolate filled in a piping bag as shown. Place the chocolate shorts on the cake as shown. The uniquely decorated birthday cake is ready.
