Wheat Gul Papadi

About the Recipe

Wheat Gul Papadi is a unique sweet and easy-to-prepare snack. It is enjoyed by kids and adults. It requires very few ingredients which are easily available in the kitchen. Ingredients

 

  • 3 cups of whole wheat flour
  • Half to quarter cup jaggery
  • Half cup water
  • Elaichi powder of 5-6 pods
  • 2 tsp Sesame seeds (til)
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup Ghee and oil for frying

Directions

 

  • Take half cup water in a vessel and place on low flame. Add grated jaggery and dissolve it completely without boiling the water. Strain the water in a metal strainer.
  • Add melted ghee in the wheat flour, elaichi powder, sesame seeds and salt to taste. Mix the ghee well with the dry ingredients. The dry ingredients should form a rough shape when held tightly in hands.
  • Then add the jaggery water. Mix well and knead a firm dough. If required add regular water in very small quantity. Cover and allow to dough to rest for 20-25 mins.
  • Later, pour little oil on rolling pin and knead it once again. Make small balls of the dough and cover it with a cotton cloth. Roll out thick chapati from the dough ball.
  • Cut out circles with help of a small bowl or cutter. Prick the papadi with fork or knife. Keep the cut papdi on a cotton cloth to dry out the moiture from it for 10 mins on each side.
  • Heat oil in khadhai, fry the papdi on low flame till light golden brown. After frying, place the papdi on Oddy Uniwrap to absorb all the excess oil and healthy eating.
