American Corn and Moong Dal Patra

About the Recipe

Patra or Aluvadi is also known as Aluvadi and is a tasty delicacy made with moong dal, corn, ginger-chilli paste, and a selection of spices. This easy Gujarati patra recipe gets ready to serve in just under an hour. The Ecobake cooking paper is used to steam the patra.

Ingredients

 

  • American corn -3 cup & Moong dal- 1 cup
  • Rava-1/2 cup & Rice flour – 2 tbsp
  • Alvi leaves & Green chili paste-2 tsp
  • Garlic paste -1 tsp & Asafoetida -1/4 tsp
  • Black pepper powder -1/2 tsp & Garam masala -1/2 tsp
  • Salt – to taste & Chopped coriander – ½ cup
  • Eno-1 tsp, Lemon-1, Oil & Baking soda

Directions

 

  • Soak moong dal for 3 hours, drain water, and grind into a soft paste. Grind the corn and mix it with the moong dal paste. Add rava, rice flour to it, mix well, and rest for 15 minutes.
  • Mix green chilli paste, garlic paste, salt, asafoetida, black pepper powder, eno, and lime juice to it. Spread the batter on the alvi leaves and roll them as shown and keep it ready.
  • Mix oil and baking soda and apply to rolls. Line a steamer plate with EcoBake cooking paper and steam it for 15 minutes on medium heat.
  • Take them out of the steamer and cut them as shown. The American corn and moong dal Patra are ready to serve. It tastes good with lemon and onions.
