Farali or Coconut Pattice

About the Recipe

Farali Pattice is a famous Gujarati dish made during festivals like Navratri or Vrat. The exterior of the Pattice has potatoes with a sweet filling made of coconut inside. You can make them with a handful of ingredients in less time. Oddy Uniwraps used to pack the Farali Pattice to lock in its flavor and keep it fresh.

Ingredients

 

  • 1 Cup Fresh Sliced Coconut & 1/2 Cup Coarsely Ground Roasted Peanuts
  • 2-3 tbsp Chopped Coriander Leaves & 1½ tsp Ginger Chilli Paste
  • Salt as per taste Rock Salt & ½ tsp Roasted Cumin Powder
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper Powder & 1 tsp Dry Mango Powder/Amchur Powder
  • 2 tsp Powder Sugar, 2 tbsp Raisins/Kishmish & 2 tbsp Chopped Cashew Nuts
  • 250 grams Boiled Potatoes, ¾ Cup to 1 Cup Water Chestnut Flour/Singhara Flour
  • ½ tsp Dry Mango Powder/Amchur Powder & ½ tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • Oil as required Oil (For Deep fry) & Oddy Uniwraps

Directions

 

  • Grind coconut pieces in a mixer jar and transfer the powder to a bowl. Add the other ingredients required to prepare the filling and give them a good mix.
  • Make small balls with the filling and keep them aside. Mash boiled potatoes in a bowl; take a small portion of it and make a roundel.
  • Flatten the roundel, fill it with the coconut filling, and seal it. Fry these stuffed roundels in hot oil. You can pack them in Oddy Uniwraps to keep them fresh and hot.
