Street Style Vada Pav

About the Recipe

Vada Pav is one of Mumbai’s famous street foods. It is made by clubbing deep-fried potato stuffing between a half-slit bun layered with spicy garlic powder. Today we’re going to learn how to make vada pav easily. Oddy Uniwraps helps you arrange the vadas on a plate without making the plate greasy.

Ingredients

 

  • Potatoes - 5 medium & Ginger - 1 & 1/2 inch
  • Garlic cloves - 12-15 & Green chilles - 8-10
  • Oil - 3 tbsp, Mustard seeds - 1/2 tbsp & Oddy Uniwraps
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp & Curry leaves - 10-12
  • Turmeric - 1/4 tsp, Baking soda - a pinch & Salt to taste
  • Coriander - As needed & Roasted peanuts - 1/4 cup
  • Gram flour - 1 cup, Asafoetida - a pinch & Turmeric - a pinch
  • Ajwain - 1/2 tbsp, Salt to taste & Water as needed

Directions

 

  • Take a mixing bowl and put the boiled potatoes in it. Mash them well. Take a mixer jar and add chopped ginger, garlic cloves, and green chillies to it and grind them together. 'Thecha' will be ready.
  • Heat up some oil in a pan on medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them pop up. Then quickly add cumin seeds and let them splutter. After this, immediately add chopped curry leaves and prepare thecha.
  • Mix and fry everything well together. Add turmeric powder over it and mix again for 1-2 minutes. Finally, add salt to taste. Mix well. Masala will be ready. Add this masala to mashed potatoes. Mix well. The stuffing will be ready.
  • For making batter, mix gram flour, asafoetida, turmeric powder, ajwain (by rubbing well on hands), and salt well together. Add a little water at a time to make a pourable batter. Finally, add baking soda to it and mix well to the batter.
  • Heat some oil in a pan on medium heat to fry 'Potato Vada'. Take a little ball of potato stuffing and dip it deep into the batter. And add to the pan. You can add 3–4 Vadas at a time to the pan, depending on their size.
  • Fry 'Vada's from both sides on medium flame until golden. The traditional Maharashtrian 'Potato Vada's Or 'Batate Vade' are ready. Place Oddy Uniwraps on a plate. Add it and take out all the 'Batate Vade' in it.
